I've been asked by my sister to take some pictures for her sister in law quince, but I have little bit of experience taking pictures of big events like this. What are some tips that you could recommend me to do to capture the best moments?

If you're shooting digital, there's practically no cost to shooting often. If her friends tend to move around a lot, you'll want to make sure you use a fast shutter speed and a wide aperture. For the more still moments, a smaller aperture will give you a nice blurry background. Be ready to capture facial expressions and reactions to jokes, suprises, and of course the cake-cutting as authentic reactions tend to be the pictures that people love the most about themselves. Also, as this is probably a big day for your sister, you'll want to do your best to stay as invisible as possible without getting in the way so that you don't bother her friends... unless of course someone's asking you to take their picture. :) Have fun!
Thank you for the advice, I've been practicing and getting better. :D
